RMIT University (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) choose JTB Studios for Web Design

At JTB Studios we love working with some of the greatest minds in Melbourne ( and Australia ).
And not many come brighter than the Professors, lectures and staff at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT University).

The design and architecture facility at RMIT recently had a few special projects and opted to engage the JTB Studios designers and developers to strategize, design and develop their websites.

It was a great pleasure working with the team at RMIT. We started with some development work and support on architecture.rmit.edu.au
This consisted of a website that was pretty unique in it’s design and layout form.

This site presented a unique challenge as it had been built using a combination of side and vertical scrolling to showcase student work, projects and staff. This was particularly difficult as it consists of many grids of hi-res images.

The JTB team was able to get the site working smoothly, and speed up load times with techniques such as “lazy loading” (Where the page loads first and the certain elements are streamed onto the page as they are needed.)  The JTB team was also able to offer ideas on further functional improvements throughout the site and these also were implemented.

The success of the main RMIT Architecture site lead to JTB Studios working on the D__Lab site (The Centre for Design Practice Research – RMIT University).

The previous developers of the D__Lab site had trouble with some of the core functionally that JTB’s Developers where able to code quickly and smoothly.

Recently RMIT has awarded JTB Studios it’s 3rd and biggest project.

Without revealing too much during the build phase our  3rd project with RMIT is a truly a world 1st in both the the education space as well as on web and online realm.  The team at RMIT has developed a unique idea in how to deliver education and resources to their students online and JTB is honoured to have been chosen to design and develop this idea.
