Bringing a signature cafe experience to the digital space

The minimalist aesthetic of Industry Beans, characterised by clean white lines, light textures of marble, and an abundance of natural light, served as the inspiration for the website's design. The goal was to create a digital experience that mirrored the serene, refined atmosphere of their cafés, allowing the products to take centre stage.

The Vision

Create a modern, profitable ecommerce experience that seamlessly engages users with the craft and journey of coffee.

Art direction

Industry Beans Cafes have a very distinct architectural and interior feel to them. They’re minimal with very subtle, natural textures and only accented by greenery and the people within them. This became the guiding principles for the direction of the website.

It's rare to seamlessly bridge the digital and physical worlds, but that was our goal with this project. To achieve it, we constantly asked ourselves, "Is this necessary?" In a way, our task was to "un-design" the digital experience, stripping it down to its essentials to authentically capture the feeling of stepping into an Industry Beans café.

To ensure users could quickly find what they were looking for, the navigation needed to be intuitive, clean, and efficient. We designed a streamlined experience that even allowed users to purchase coffee directly from the navigation. This approach catered to a broad range of users—from first-time visitors eager to explore, to seasoned customers who knew exactly what they wanted and could complete their purchase with just a few clicks.

We integrated transparent videos of leaves into the website, echoing the natural elements found in the café. This subtle interplay between the physical café and the digital experience was essential, as plants play a key role in softening the café’s minimalist aesthetic. Throughout the design process, it was important to us to weave in these small details from the café’s interiors, ensuring a seamless connection between the two experiences.

The product page was designed to mirror the in-café experience, where customers are guided through their coffee selection with personalised questions like, “How would you like your coffee?” Users can easily choose from various options and make their purchase, just as they would in person. We also included key information, tasting notes, and brewing recipes to further showcase Industry Beans’ deep expertise and commitment to exceptional customer service, enriching the online experience.
