After a recent rebrand, now is the perfect opportunity to align values with digital appearance. We need to ensure SMEC’s message “Redefining exceptional” is carried throughout all sectors. Our goal is to position them as a global tier-one provider with a focus on technical excellence.
Elevate SMEC’s digital experience as the global tier-one provider of transport and energy infrastructure service. On the current site, it is difficult to understand SMEC’s true value proposition and updated branding. Due to the linear site architecture, it is difficult for users to find information. The service offering needs to be simplified. SMEC’s updated brand statement needs to be reflected and aligned with its online presence. Since the user interface lacks aesthetics, it is difficult to navigate. To elevate the experience, SMEC should introduce modern design elements to its outdated digital appearance.
Information architecture & Navigation
By creating an intuitive navigation, clients will be able to navigate more effectively. Creating a fluid and accessible navigation will help potential partners engage with the brand more effectively. The user experience will be streamlined by combining multiple pages into one single page to consolidate relevant information into a single source.
To present SMEC’s global connection with best practice. Multiple regional websites add credibility to the brand. Customised content can also speak directly to end users in particular regions, creating an engaging site experience. Upon landing on a global site, users can choose a region view to view targeted content.
A strong first impression can be created by opening with a large fullscreen banner, which communicates brand quality to users. A simple but effective typography design can quickly communicate key statistics to the user. A project’s profile overview can be used to highlight its success and help the user grasp the key points. By using tabs and accordions, users can easily find the most relevant information.

Smec had recently rebranded its print collateral, but their digital presence lacked cohesiveness. Bringing the same high-quality print feel to their website, as well as closing the gap between their print and digital presences. We also designed an intuitive mega menu to organize the site’s information architecture, which had become cluttered over time. There are various groups of users visiting the site, so understanding each individual user was key to displaying content and CTAs that appealed to them, we displayed SMEC’s credibility and reputation clearly through case studies and leadership pages.
