A great website is like an excellent burger: you need the right amount of butter on a soft, freshly-baked milk bun; a juicy meat patty, chargrilled to perfection; bubbling, melted American cheddar; and the perfect ratio of ketchup-to-mayo. Sourcing the right images and video is like picking your ingredients: it takes skill; and sometimes, it means getting into the farm and picking them fresh yourself.
Last week, our digital designer Aaron Fraser went behind the counter and sourced his own videography as the perfect condiment to the one-page website he designed for Footscray’s newest burger shop: Burger Business.
During his initial research period, Fraser scoured over 200 Melbourne burger websites and quickly realised that none had included a video. Realising the engagement potential, he designed the site with a full-width video for the first screen and parallax video as the user scrolls.
Burger Business co-owner Joe Basa cooked up a fresh couple of burgers and gave us the run-down on what makes his burgers the business. He spends up to 14 hours a day hand-making and cooking fresh every beef patty using 100% Australian prime beef and an array of herbs and spices.
Cooked over a commercial chargrill, each patty is cooked to perfection with the fat being drained away, giving the meat a delicious flavour without leaving you feeling heavy.
Building both their Cheeseburger and the Bacon Feast, Basa showed us the best way to layer a burger, giving Fraser ample content to make his final web design come together.
The result: one delicious website with eye-popping flavour that keeps you coming back for more – just like the tasty wares on menu at Burger Business.
